If you looked at the freshwater plumbing lines you may get sick. The lines are black with mold, kinked all over and leaking. It was not an option to flush them out and clean them so we decided to replace. We purchased some new FDA approved anti-bacterial water lines for the replacement, figuring better safe than sorry when it comes to water (I'd say a step up from the the old pool hose which was previously installed....).
Our boat has three tanks to store water. A large 30 gal up in the V berth area and two 15 gal ones in the saloon. For now we decided to use the two smaller ones to keep water fresh and haven't made a decision on what to do with the larger one. It was originally for a toilet and sink in the head which have been removed so it is not needed at this time. Any ideas?
After a long time of stuffing my body into the tiny compartment, which I am getting quite good at, new hose was run, shut offs installed and the galley sink plumbed to the tanks. Although it will still be a little while before we use the tanks -- they will need a thorough cleanse first -- it does bring us one step closer.
